Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we rely on different lawful bases depending on what we are doing:
- Contract: to provide listener account features you ask to use.
- Legitimate interests: to operate the station, understand basic listening activity, keep the service secure and improve the website/app.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with law.
- Consent: where we specifically ask for consent for an optional feature.
Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of cookies and local storage values to make the site and app work properly.
- Login/session cookies: keep you signed in and protect account actions.
- Remember-me cookies: keep listener accounts signed in where this feature is used.
- Anonymous voting cookie: helps remember anonymous votes and avoid duplicate voting.
- Visitor/listener identifier: helps count active listeners and listening sessions.
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or sell listener data to advertisers.
When we share information
We do not sell personal information. We only share information where needed to run the service, comply with the law,
or protect the station and its users.

- Law enforcement, regulators or other authorities may receive information if we are legally required to provide it.
- We may share limited technical information where needed to investigate abuse, security incidents or service problems.

longer for security, legal, accounting or abuse-prevention reasons.
- Listener account information is normally kept while the account exists.
- Votes and favourites are normally kept while the account exists, or while anonymous voting data remains useful for ratings.
